2022.01.28 15:49 CheekyHawky Has a non-poisonous plant ever killed a person?
Let me explain. Has a living plant ever killed a person, in a way that is not related to biochemical processes or characteristics of the plant, the person or both? Here a list of some things that I think should not count:
-Plants that may cause an allergic reaction to a particular person
-Digestive problems caused by eating it.
I would also like to add another rule: the plant must be the fundamental cause of death, and it must be alive, or at least be attached to its substrate, so these wouldn't count:
-People killed with a wooden or plant based objects (no knives, bats, etc.).
-No collisions, or falls caused by or on plants, where the person would have died any way if the plant were substituted with an inert object (no Paul Walker-like crashes, no BASE jumping accident where the person dies after hitting a tree, etc.).
-No deaths caused by the fall of branches when there are strong winds.
I won't elaborate further, because otherwise, the answers will be about finding the loopholes and gaps in the question, and I'm not a lawyer lmao. I think you get the point :)
I only came up with the case of "bamboo torture" (should it be valid?). It would be also interesting to find if there is a big subaquatic plant, or algae that belongs to the plantae kingdom that is not inert (e.g. Aldrovanda vesiculosa) that can make a diver drown when he can't get to the surface after the plant grabs him.

2022.01.28 15:49 AutomaticLow1935 Done with final interview!! Did not talk about salary ?
I am done with the final interview couple of days ago with a early stage startup. All of the interviews went well. The last interview was with the CTO. So far they did not ask anything about the salary expectation. The CTO ensured to contact with me in next day with the decision, but neither he or the team lead did not contact with me. I sent an email to the team lead to get the update. He replied yesterday and told me to get back to me soon!! So far nothing heard from them.
Is it smelling negative?

Is there any shelter or organization that is taking clothes for females that are in good condition? Most are clothes that one could wear to a job interview or something. Thinking this would be better then just dropping them off at good will. Let me know!

2022.01.28 15:49 vegini Manage "user session" api
We're stating a project and one requisite is make an api that the user could post an .csv file, the system would open it (maybe as pandas dataframe) and send a preview to the user. Then the user could do some actions on the FrontEnd with it, lets say he renamed one column, then the api method would rename the column name and return another preview.
I can imagine a very simple way to do by putting the dataframe in a global variable.
But when I face the idea of multiple users running it at the same time, the global variable would always be replaced with the "last .csv added", messing everything.
Save the csv locally or in the DB and reload it in every request would be too slow. I read about saving a .pkl with the "latest" version of the user-dataframe, this seemed better and faster, but still don't look to be a good option!
I have no idea how to do it, but maybe something like an "thread orchestrator", and attach each thread to a specific user, this way all the variables would be isolated.
Any good library/technique to deal with this situation?

2022.01.28 15:49 Alternative-Junket56 Etiquette for follows, ride ons and kudos
Fairly new to Zwift and have been participating in the TDZ.
I use the companion app and try to give ‘ride ons’ as frequently as possible (although I’ve no idea what they actually do).
I also upload to Strava and seem to subsequently get a lot of ‘kudos’ from other folk that completed the same event (which is nice!).
What’s the etiquette for following back / returning the favour? And how do you do it?

2022.01.28 15:49 bscribblin Lake County Vs Cook County Property tax
As a first time home buyer, I’m having a hard time understanding the property tax differences between Highland Park (lake county) and Evanston (cook county).
While I know that in general Cook County has a lower PT (Property Tax) rate than Lake County, I can’t seem to find info on the town rates and how that impacts the overall property tax (for example Evanston has a higher PT rate than Skokie).
Does anyone have a resource or knowledge on the PT difference between Highland Park and Evanston?

2022.01.28 15:49 SwashbucklinChef The Outlook calendars keep deleting themselves!
I work for a specialized IT team for a single department in a rather large organization. Because of that I wear a lot of different hats and work on mundane things like printers to far more complex things like [expensive equipment unique to this facility]. That said, some days I have almost zero interaction with the end user, other days I have far too much interaction with the user.
On this particular day I get a ticket for the assistant of the department's vice chair. The vice chair is a VIP and thus their assistant needs coddled. The assistant is a very nice woman, let's call her Joan, but Joan is one of the most inept users I've ever dealt with. She has perhaps the most backwards workflow I've ever seen and is prone to self-sabotage because of it. This time however it was just straight up ineptitude.
"OP, you need to come help! My Outlook calendars keep disappearing! I don't know what's happening!"
Joan manages the VIP's calendar, some other high profile users calendars, as well as a couple calendars for conference rooms. Nothing too crazy and some of these she shares editor rights to with another user who is very good at her job. I speak with this other user first before reaching out to Joan to verify that the calendars are at least working for her. Yup, they're all good. Looks like it's something on Joan's end.
I ring up Joan up and remote into her PC. The next thing you need to know about Joan is her ability to chat is like a waterfall's capacity to gush out water nonstop. She is ceaseless and more than happy to talk your ear off. I've had tickets in the past when I first met her that only took a minute to resolve but end up taking over 40+ minutes because I couldn't regain control of the conversation and politely disengage. As I remote in cue Joan's verbal barrage; she's not paying attention to what I'm doing on her screen. I pull up her Outlook calendar, see the calendars, and politely interrupt her.
"Joan, here's your calendars. Are you sure they were missing? Did you not have the group expanded out or something?"
"OP! It's only because you're hear, they were MISSING just five minutes ago!"
"Huh... Well, that's weird. Everything seems fine now and the other assistant doesn't appear to be having any issues."
"Well, this has been happening to me constantly these last few weeks and they just randomly reappear!"
Well, that certainly doesn't make sense. This sort of stuff doesn't delete itself. I think maybe I'll throw her bone, "Well, maybe it's an issue on the Exchange side of things? I'll look into it but you should be good to go."
I quickly excuse myself before the waterfall resumes. An hour later I get another call from Joan. Oh boy.
"OP! They're gone again!"
I remote back in but this time I figure I'll go with a more passive approach. I still don't quite understand what's going on but I have a feeling it's not an "IT problem" to put it politely.
"Joan, can you show me how you access your calendars?"
Joan then boots up her Outlook and from the mail section scrolls up and down on the left of the navigation pane showing me all the different mail boxes she has access to.
"Do you see? My calendars aren't anywhere!"
"Joan, in the bottom lower left would you please click the little calendar icon."
There's a moment of silence. I have no idea what she's thinking right now but I know what I'm thinking... This person has been doing this type of job for well over a decade now. She's been at this organization for going on two years. Was this just a prolonged brain fart?
It was at that point I break the awkward silence with a quick "oh hey looks like I'm getting a call on the other line! You good? Okthxbye!" and moved on with my day.
TL;DR office assistant of 10+ years has no idea where calendars are stored in Outlook and thinks they were deleted
